Salary: EUR 68,000 - 83,000 / annual
Monzo Bank Europe (MBEU), the Irish-based subsidiary of Monzo Group, is seeking a Risk Assurance Manager to provide independent Second-Line of Defence (2LOD) assurance over the design and effectiveness of the bank's risk management framework, controls, and processes. Reporting directly to the Director of Risk Assurance, you will ensure the bank complies with Irish regulatory obligations (CBI, CPC, AML/CFT legislation, Companies Act), EU regulatory requirements (DORA, EBA Guidelines, ECB/SSM expectations, GDPR), and internal governance standards.
You will design, execute, and report on comprehensive 2LOD assurance reviews covering conduct, financial crime, fraud, credit, financial, operational, and ICT risks, as well as information security, outsourcing, data protection, and governance structures. Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating assurance activities; conducting targeted thematic reviews across specific risk areas to assess design adequacy and operating effectiveness; identifying improvement opportunities and recommending practical solutions; proactively engaging with business and risk stakeholders to foster collaborative risk culture; contributing to annual risk assurance planning through regulatory trend monitoring and horizon scanning; and continuously improving the 2LOD Risk Assurance Framework and methodology.
This is a Controlled Function (CF-2) role under the Central Bank Reform Act, 2010. Appointment is conditional on meeting the Fitness and Probity Standards 2018 issued by the Central Bank of Ireland. The role holder will be subject to Conduct Standards under the Individual Accountability Framework and must take reasonable steps to ensure compliance. You will be instrumental in ensuring Monzo's growth across the EU is safe, resilient, and compliant.
