Salary: EUR 53,000 - 65,000 / annual
Monzo Bank Europe (MBEU), the Irish-based subsidiary of Monzo Group and strategic launchpad for EU expansion, is seeking a Risk Assurance Manager to provide independent Second-Line of Defence (2LOD) assurance over the bank's risk management framework, controls, and processes. Reporting to the Director of Risk Assurance, you will design, execute, and report on comprehensive 2LOD assurance reviews covering conduct, financial crime, fraud, credit, financial, operational, ICT, information security, outsourcing, data protection, and governance risks.
Key responsibilities include planning and executing comprehensive risk assurance activities ensuring EU-wide adherence to the enterprise risk framework; conducting targeted thematic reviews across specific risk areas to assess design adequacy and operating effectiveness; identifying improvement areas within the risk management framework and recommending practical solutions while tracking remediation to completion; proactively engaging with business and risk stakeholders to understand products and risk profiles while fostering collaborative risk culture; contributing to the annual risk assurance plan through insights on regulatory trends, market practices, and upstream developments; and contributing to continuous improvement of the 2LOD Risk Assurance Framework, Methodology, and Terms of Reference.
You will ensure the bank complies with Irish regulatory obligations (CBI, CPC, AML/CFT legislation, Companies Act), EU regulatory requirements (DORA, EBA Guidelines, ECB/SSM expectations, GDPR), and internal governance including risk frameworks, policies, and risk appetite. This is a Controlled Function (CF-2) role subject to Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Standards and Conduct Standards under the Individual Accountability Framework. The role is critical in fostering sound risk culture and supporting senior management and Board oversight responsibilities.
