Salary: EUR 53,000 - 65,000 / annual
Monzo Bank Europe (MBEU), the Irish-based subsidiary of Monzo Group, is seeking a Risk Assurance Manager to provide independent Second-Line of Defence (2LOD) assurance over the bank's risk management framework, controls, and processes. Reporting directly to the Director of Risk Assurance, you will design, execute, and report on comprehensive assurance reviews covering conduct, financial crime, fraud, credit, financial, operational, ICT, information security, outsourcing, data protection, and governance risks.
Your key responsibilities include:
• Planning and executing comprehensive risk assurance activities and effectiveness reviews to ensure EU-wide adherence to the enterprise risk framework
• Conducting targeted thematic reviews across specific risk areas to provide in-depth assurance over design adequacy and operating effectiveness
• Identifying areas for improvement within the risk management framework and control environment, recommending practical solutions and tracking remediation to completion
• Proactively engaging with business and risk stakeholders to understand Monzo Europe's products and risk profiles, fostering collaborative and transparent risk culture
• Contributing to the annual risk assurance plan by monitoring regulatory trends, horizon scanning, and market practices
• Contributing to continuous improvement of the 2LOD Risk Assurance Framework, Methodology, and Terms of Reference
• Partnering across functions to ensure robust oversight and challenge across the full spectrum of the bank's risk universe
You will ensure compliance with Irish regulatory obligations (CBI, CPC, AML/CFT legislation, Companies Act), EU regulatory requirements (DORA, EBA Guidelines, ECB/SSM expectations, GDPR), and internal governance frameworks. This is a Controlled Function (CF-2) role subject to Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Standards and Conduct Standards under the Individual Accountability Framework.
The role is critical in fostering sound risk culture and supporting senior management and the Board in their oversight responsibilities, ensuring Monzo's growth is safe, resilient, and compliant.
