VAST Data, a rapidly growing infrastructure company, is seeking a Customer Support Engineer to join their team in Dallas. This is an onsite role based at the customer site, where you will serve as a product expert and trusted technical advisor. You will be responsible for managing daily technical operations, handling customer support cases, and managing escalations. Your responsibilities include: - Become a VAST Data product expert and serve as a trusted advisor to customers' technical teams - Work support issues to full resolution, interfacing directly with customers and engineering teams - Perform customer installations, upgrades, expansions, and field maintenance procedures - Lead and coordinate regular monthly and quarterly customer review meetings - Answer technical questions and manage escalations via Slack and other channels - Consult on pre-sales and technical sales activities - Identify opportunities for customers to fully adopt VAST features - Submit feature requests and bug reports to improve the product Your work will span diverse applications including machine learning, high-performance computing, and AI applications. You will work onsite 4-5 days per week at the customer office and travel approximately 20% of the time. VAST Data has disrupted the storage industry with its Universal Storage platform, challenging traditional architecture models and introducing revolutionary storage possibilities. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of experience in customer-facing, pre-sale/post-sale positions working with complex storage solutions - Extensive knowledge and experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, networking, and storage - Broad understanding of the enterprise software world - Knowledge and working experience in common Linux system administration tasks and Linux OS - Good understanding of networking and hands-on experience with network configurations on Linux and network troubleshooting - Bash scripting required; familiarity with one or more programming languages - Significant experience with file systems and scale-out NAS implementation - In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with S3 and high-performance computing - Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills - Ability to manage own time and work independently - Ability to travel (approximately 20%) - Flexibility to adapt as responsibilities evolve - MS or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field - Advantageous: hands-on lab and hardware management experience; experience in rapidly growing, dynamic startups
