Oura is seeking a Research Scientist to join its Health Science team with expertise in designing and executing scientific and clinical studies. The role focuses on deepening Oura's scientific presence, particularly through work with UAE-based collaborators and populations, while contributing to evidence generation that supports product development and business priorities.
Key responsibilities include leading the design of observational, prospective, retrospective, and interventional studies; analyzing complex wearable, physiological, and multimodal biobehavioral datasets; building reproducible analytical workflows; and applying rigorous statistical and computational methods including time-series analysis, regression models, Bayesian approaches, and machine learning. You will contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, patents, and other scientific dissemination activities, and provide evidence-based input across research, product, and partnership initiatives.
The role requires cross-functional collaboration with Science, Research Operations, Product, Clinical, Regulatory, and data teams throughout the study lifecycle. This is a remote position based in the US with a strong preference for East Coast candidates (Eastern Time zone). Oura's remote employees in major cities occasionally gather informally at co-working locations.
Required qualifications include a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, behavioral/health sciences, sleep and circadian biology, physiology, cardiometabolic health, endocrinology, women's health, digital health, biostatistics, biomedical engineering, computer science, data science, or related field. You must have a strong track record of leading research from hypothesis through publication with first-authored peer-reviewed work, demonstrated experience designing human subjects studies (protocol development, IRB processes, ethics), and advanced programming skills in Python and/or R with SQL experience. Proficiency with reproducible computational workflows (Jupyter, RStudio, Git, Docker, Conda) and fluency in statistical modeling and scientific data visualization are essential.
Preferred qualifications include proven experience conducting studies in the UAE with credibility among regional collaborators, and experience at the intersection of industry and academia.
