Constellation Systems is building an AI-human translation layer to address deep problems in human experience—empowering people toward their goals, augmenting cognition and emotional wellness, and fostering mutual understanding. The company is generating the richest multimodal dataset ever collected to build a new class of foundation models. As a Founding Applied Scientist, you will decode the human experience by working with this unprecedented multimodal dataset and solving truly novel problems. This is a hybrid research and engineering role with significant scope and autonomy. Key Responsibilities: - Train and fine-tune deep learning models (PyTorch/JAX), translating raw signals into interpretable behavioral constructs. - Perform advanced time-series analysis to identify latent state changes, clusters, and transitions, turning data into insights for research and product. - Architect cloud-based pipelines capable of processing petabytes of data. - Define ground truth and rigorous evaluation metrics; curate validation data and design benchmarks. - Implement active learning loops to improve model performance using massive incoming data streams. - Clean, wrangle, and interpret noisy, high-variability real-world data. - Influence data collection strategy with full visibility into the data lifecycle. Required Qualifications: - Top-tier publications in major conferences (NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, ICML) or high-impact journals (Nature, Science). - Proficiency in PyTorch or JAX; ability to implement papers from scratch and modify architectures for custom needs. - Strong Python expertise. - Deep experience in time-series analysis plus at least two of: computer vision, NLP/audio/speech processing, or biosignal/neural time-series. - Demonstrated experience architecting data processing pipelines and deploying models in the cloud. - Adaptability and excitement about creative problem-solving in uncharted territory. - Passion for positively impacting human well-being. - Thrives in high-bandwidth, collaborative environments. Nice to Have: - Familiarity with neuroadaptive systems, biofeedback, or closed-loop stimulation paradigms. - Exposure to large-scale foundation models. - Experience where your analysis directly informed product strategy or UX. - Interest in neurotech, mental health, or human-AI interaction. The role offers a renovated, light-filled office in San Francisco's Mission District, comprehensive health/dental/vision insurance (fully covered), relocation assistance, workspace setup stipend, bi-monthly team dinners, twice-yearly off-sites, fully stocked kitchen with meal budget, conference sponsorship, professional development, and a minimum of 12 weeks paid parental leave.
