The Legal team partners across the organization to provide practical advice that enables fast growth while maintaining compliance and protection. You will serve as Senior Regulatory Counsel for the Customer Experience (CX) department, acting as the lead legal advisor for customer support initiatives. Your focus will be ensuring that customer-facing tools—including automated support assistants, smart routing, and generative AI features—are built on solid regulatory foundations. Key responsibilities include: - Collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to translate financial regulations into practical, scalable product guardrails - Providing regulatory advice on AI product deployment within customer support, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory expectations - Partnering with CX product managers, data scientists, and engineers to design legally sound automated customer journeys, chat assistants, and support workflows - Structuring regulatory governance frameworks for AI decision-making, automated resolution pathways, and vulnerable customer protection mechanisms - Liaising with external specialist counsel and distilling advice for senior management and non-legal audiences - Balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on execution of significant and complex legal matters with tight turnaround times This role sits at the intersection of product, technology, and regulation—ideal for a lawyer who enjoys translating complex compliance requirements into practical product solutions and who thrives in a fast-moving fintech environment. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) with a strong background in financial services regulation and product counselling - Excellent academic and law firm credentials - Sound judgement, composure under pressure, and a collaborative mindset - Confidence making decisions in ambiguous situations with incomplete information - Expertise in UK financial regulations: FCA and PRA Handbooks, Consumer Duty, BCOBS, DISP, FSMA - In-depth knowledge of AI legal principles, including the EU AI Act, automated decision-making compliance, and data governance - Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills NICE TO HAVE: - Experience conducting AI impact assessments within a regulated financial institution
