The Regulatory Compliance Manager for Mexico will lead regulatory compliance operations for Airwallex in the region as part of the Legal, Risk & Compliance team's second line of defense. This is a hybrid role based in Mexico City, reporting directly to the Director of Regulatory Compliance for the Americas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading regulatory engagement and managing licensing obligations, regulator relationships, and compliance across the business
- Owning ongoing regulatory obligations including reporting, exams, inspections, and compliance risk management within the Group Risk Framework
- Advising the business on regulatory change, conduct risk, and licensing requirements while strengthening first-line policies, controls, and processes
- Delivering the Compliance Monitoring Program through thematic reviews and oversight to ensure organizational maturity and regulatory alignment
- Driving compliance capability across the business through training and targeted projects
- Supporting regional expansion through license applications, authorizations, and regulator engagement
Required qualifications include 6+ years of regulatory compliance experience in financial institutions, FinTech, or legal/consulting firms; CNBV certification as Oficial de Cumplimiento (regulatory/PLD-FT); familiarity with Mexican and broader Americas financial regulatory frameworks; data proficiency; strategic thinking and creative problem-solving; superior communication skills; experience developing/maintaining compliance programs in financial institutions; exposure to licensing processes and RegTech solutions; understanding of financial products and conduct risk; and fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
