Anysphere, maker of Cursor (an AI-native code editor), is building a Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team to bridge the gap between expected and realized value for enterprise customers. FDEs embed directly with customer engineering teams, build production-grade Cursor workflows, and transfer knowledge and practices that compound long-term. As Regional Director of Forward Deployed Engineering, you will lead and scale the FDE team across India's three major tech hubs (Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi). You'll manage a growing team of 6–8 FDEs working on the company's most strategic enterprise accounts, own the definition of world-class FDE engagement, and maintain hands-on involvement in escalation, coaching, and course correction. You will own the full customer lifecycle: technical discovery and architecture reviews, proposal development that translates ambiguous problems into concrete time-boxed deliverables, and executive-level relationship management from deal close through delivery and handoff. You'll serve as the primary technical sponsor on high-priority engagements, manage stakeholder relationships across all levels, and ensure delivery quality through appropriate scoping, milestone tracking, and technical standards. You'll also identify and escalate product gaps and recurring customer pain to Product and Engineering with specificity to drive roadmap decisions, build reusable playbooks that scale the broader FDE organization, and establish and scale the partner FDE track—training and enabling GSI and consulting partners to extend the FDE motion at volume. On the people side, you'll hire top-tier FDE talent, set clear expectations and technical performance standards, coach engineers through complex field challenges (scoping under deal pressure, building alongside senior technical stakeholders, protecting vs. flexing scope), and develop career growth paths for a team where excellence means shipping in production. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical credibility, strong people management, and the judgment to keep engagements scoped tight, delivered fast, and worth repeating. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years of experience leading technical teams that build and ship in production (Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or similar function where writing and reviewing code is part of the job) - Experience with software development and coding in Python, Javascript/Typescript - Built and owned AI-native workflows in production (not just prototypes); able to debug real-world model failures - Ability to diagnose complex enterprise engineering environments quickly, identify highest-leverage interventions, and scope meaningful engagements - Track record building and scaling IC-level technical teams; understanding of what excellence looks like in the field (sharp scoping, clean delivery, knowledge transfer)
