CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. The company operates in a dynamic, cross-functional startup environment focused on next-generation space systems.
As a Radiation Effects Engineer II, you will lead key aspects of CesiumAstro's radiation hardness assurance program. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant technical scope and responsibility for ensuring products meet radiation resilience requirements across diverse orbital environments—from high-volume LEO applications to higher orbits.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting radiation environment analysis for various orbital regimes and mission profiles
- Planning, executing, and analyzing radiation testing programs
- Assessing radiation risks and developing mitigation strategies
- Contributing to product roadmapping with radiation hardness considerations
- Selecting and qualifying modern, cutting-edge devices for space applications
- Presenting engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership
- Participating in proposal-writing efforts for customer engagements
You will need extensive industry experience with radiation effects in space systems, deep knowledge of modern semiconductor and component selection for harsh environments, and strong technical communication skills. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication to interface with both internal teams and external customers.
