Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Quality Systems Engineer to own and advance the quality management system for the Battlespace Awareness division. This role sits at the center of Anduril's transition from ISO 9001 certification to AS9100 compliance, serving as the primary interface with auditors, customers, and production teams. You will own the BA quality management system end-to-end, including procedure development, compliance, and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include: • Serve as primary QMS process owner supporting the designated management representative under AS9100D §5.3, leading quality objectives, risk management, and the Management Review cycle. • Own the internal audit program: maintain annual schedules covering all QMS processes, qualify auditors, ensure independence, and drive findings to closure. • Own the supplier and external provider audit program under AS9100D §8.4, building risk-based audit schedules, conducting qualification surveys and on-site/remote audits, and driving corrective actions to closure. • Support product quality work including first article inspection (AS9102), nonconforming material and MRB disposition, and field escape investigation in partnership with Product Quality Engineering. • Manage the registrar relationship and full certification cycle, including surveillance, recertification, scope changes, and nonconformity responses. • Own quality KPIs for BA: define metrics, report monthly to leadership, investigate adverse trends, and drive improvement actions. Build dashboards and reporting systems. • Run recurring 6S and FOD audits on the production floor, scoring, trending, and closing findings. Maintain ESD and counterfeit parts prevention programs. • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action from internal findings and customer visits. • Own document and record control, procedure hierarchy, revision control, approval routing, and retention per AS9100D §7.5. Build and deliver QMS training packages. • Partner with product quality and manufacturing engineers during new product development to prepare products and sites for QMS requirements. • Develop internal QMS roadmap for tools and capabilities to support company scaling and harmonization of BA's QMS with Anduril enterprise procedures. • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities benefiting QMS and product quality. The role combines systems work with hands-on product involvement. You will spend time on the production floor, with suppliers, and in the field—not only in documentation systems. The ideal candidate wants to build world-class quality processes, work hands-on, help others succeed, and be accountable for results. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's degree and 4–7 years of experience in aerospace and/or defense manufacturing • Deep working knowledge of QMS requirements and auditing in complex product environments, specifically AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 (equivalent depth in AS9110C, AS9120B, IATF 16949, or ISO 13485 considered) • Trained AS9100D internal auditor, or able to complete certification within 90 days of hire • Demonstrated ownership of a corrective action system (not just participation in individual investigations) • Working knowledge of design, development, manufacturing, supply chain, deployment, contracts, and other organizations that are part of company-wide audits • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Business Intelligence (BI) systems, and ability to build quality reporting from them • Experience working with DCMA, DFARs, and other government and defense program requirements • Experience with ESD, FOD, and counterfeit programs, and working knowledge of tools like GIDEP, FAR, ASSIST • Strong ownership mindset with demonstrated capability to drive projects from start to completion • Proven track record of QMS implementation and success • U.S. Person status required (access to export-controlled data) • Expected travel: 20% of the time DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Certification as an AS9100 lead auditor • One or more American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications: CQE, CRE, CMQ/OE, CQA • Product-side quality experience (first article inspection, MRB, PFMEA, control plans, field failure investigation) or clear interest in growing into it • Experience with low-volume, highly complex manufacturing • Experience harmonizing an acquired site's QMS into a parent company's system
