Qualia is a leading B2B real estate technology platform that simplifies the home buying and selling experience. The company operates a shared digital closing platform connecting homebuyers, sellers, lenders, title agents, escrow agents, and real estate professionals. Millions of consumers use Qualia annually to close on homes through the company's SMB and Enterprise products. As a Quality Engineer, you will own the design and implementation of test automation, quality infrastructure, and performance testing systems. You'll lead the migration from Cypress to Playwright, build and scale automation frameworks, and drive AI-assisted testing initiatives. Your responsibilities include performing root cause analysis on product defects and test failures, triaging issues to determine whether failures originate in the product, test, or environment, and routing them to appropriate owners. You'll tackle complex quality problems across automation architecture, performance testing, and AI integration, with high autonomy to identify and pursue impactful work. The role requires strong programming ability in JavaScript/TypeScript and the ability to write production-grade automation code. You'll collaborate closely with software engineers, understand systems at a deep level, and contribute to raising quality standards across the engineering organization. The tech stack includes JavaScript/NodeJS/TypeScript, Cypress, Playwright, AI agentic frameworks, performance testing tools (JMeter/k6), MongoDB, microservice architecture, Kubernetes, and AWS/Google Cloud. You'll mentor engineers, provide technical leadership, and drive quality strategy and vision. The role is based in Austin with flexibility for remote arrangements for qualified candidates. Qualia also has offices in San Francisco and Concord, New Hampshire.
