Catawiki is a curated marketplace for special objects, auctioning over 100,000 unique items weekly and having sold 25+ million objects globally. The company is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to embed quality as an engineering discipline across their web, mobile, and backend systems.
In this role, you will own and improve automation foundations and tooling that enable teams to deliver reliable experiences with confidence. You'll build scalable automation frameworks using tools like Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress, applying object-oriented principles and maintainable design patterns. You'll embed quality into CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated tests and establishing effective release quality gates.
Key responsibilities include testing APIs and backend systems across REST and GraphQL to validate data integrity and business logic; improving test effectiveness by increasing meaningful coverage and reducing regression time; applying risk-based testing to prioritize critical user journeys with the greatest customer and business impact; and strengthening quality engineering practices by improving frameworks, pipelines, and internal tooling.
You'll collaborate across Engineering, Product, and Business teams to communicate quality in terms of risk and practical trade-offs. You'll also mentor and influence others by sharing best practices and acting as an informal technical leader while remaining hands-on.
You bring 7–12 years of relevant experience progressing from quality assurance into hands-on automation engineering or software development in test. You write production-quality code in languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#, with expertise in building or significantly improving maintainable automation frameworks. You have hands-on CI/CD experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps, strong API testing experience, and a product-minded approach to quality engineering.
