GitLab is seeking a Public Sector Strategic Account Executive to drive DevSecOps adoption across state and local government agencies and higher education institutions in the Mountain Plains region (Colorado, Arizona, Kansas). You'll serve as the primary point of contact for strategic and large public sector prospects, owning a defined book of business and building multi-year account plans aligned with agency modernization priorities like CI/CD automation, secure development practices, and infrastructure modernization in regulated environments.
Key responsibilities include developing trusted relationships with CIOs and technical leaders, navigating complex government procurement cycles, executing strategic account plans, and coordinating with pre-sales engineering and customer success teams to ensure successful rollouts and adoption. You'll partner with system integrators and resellers to generate qualified leads and co-create solutions for government challenges. You'll also represent customer voice internally by sharing product feedback through GitLab's public issue tracker.
You bring 5+ years of experience selling technology solutions to U.S. State and Local Government and Higher Education institutions, with deep knowledge of software development lifecycle concepts (CI/CD, secure development, infrastructure modernization) and state procurement vehicles. You understand compliance requirements and agency buying cycles, and can navigate complex stakeholder environments. Your consultative sales approach positions technology as a mission enabler. You excel at managing major accounts with high ownership, collaborating across internal and external teams, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You're aligned with GitLab's values and embrace AI as a productivity multiplier in your daily workflows.
