The Exploration Company is building spacecraft for humanity. This role is a Project Manager for the Avionics, Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), and Flight Software (FSW) functions within the Nyx program—critical systems that ensure safe and reliable vehicle operation from launch through re-entry and recovery.
You will coordinate the execution of these three interconnected work packages, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives. Working closely with Avionics, GNC, and FSW technical leads, systems engineering, propulsion, mission operations, and verification teams, you will create transparency around scope, schedule, interfaces, risks, and decisions while supporting teams in delivering robust, well-verified capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own and coordinate project planning for Avionics, GNC, and FSW work packages within Nyx
- Translate program objectives and milestones into clear plans, priorities, and deliverables
- Coordinate the full development lifecycle from requirements through implementation, integration, verification, and release
- Maintain visibility of scope, schedule, dependencies, risks, and resource needs
- Monitor progress with technical leads, identify blockers, and support timely decisions
- Manage technical, program, and interface dependencies across multiple teams
- Support avionics integration, software and hardware-in-the-loop activities, simulations, and mission rehearsals
- Coordinate inputs to design reviews, development reviews, and qualification activities
- Track requirements, verification activities, test results, and technical actions
- Identify schedule and delivery risks early, define mitigation actions, and escalate unresolved issues
- Manage changes to scope, requirements, interfaces, and priorities
- Prepare progress updates, decision material, and status reports for program reviews
- Facilitate coordination meetings and ensure actions and decisions are tracked
- Contribute to resource and capacity planning
- Support coordination with external partners, suppliers, and customers as needed
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project-management processes
This is a highly cross-functional role at the interface between technical teams, program management, and mission execution. You will work with technically expert teams while maintaining focus on program objectives and delivery commitments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in project or program management within aerospace, space systems, aviation, automotive, robotics, embedded systems, or another safety and reliability-critical environment
- Good understanding of spacecraft avionics, GNC, flight software, embedded software, or closely related technical domains
- Experience coordinating complex technical work packages involving multiple teams and interfaces
- Practical experience managing plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, actions, and technical deliverables
- Ability to understand technical topics sufficiently to ask the right questions, identify impacts, and support informed decisions
- Experience working across requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, and verification activities
- Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to bring structure and transparency to complex projects
- Proactive approach to identifying risks, raising issues early, and driving actions to closure
- Ability to work effectively with technical experts while maintaining focus on program objectives
- Experience with project-management, planning, requirements-management, or engineering tools
- Degree or equivalent experience in aerospace engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, project management, or related field
- Professional fluency in English; additional European languages a plus
