Fal is building the generative media ecosystem powering the next generation of AI products. As the company scales globally, they need a dedicated immigration and global mobility expert to own all aspects of employee work authorization, sponsorship, and relocation across Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions.
In this role, you will be the single point of ownership for every immigration case from start to finish—sponsorships, renewals, permanent residence applications, work authorizations, transfers, and relocations. You'll be the first person employees, managers, and counsel contact, and the last to close the loop. You must be licensed to practice in the U.S. and serve as the in-house expert rather than a router to external law firms. For EMEA and APAC, you'll select counsel, brief them thoroughly, and pressure-test their recommendations.
You'll develop and maintain mobility and immigration policy, assignment structures, cost projections, and compliance frameworks before they're needed. You'll build and manage the vendor bench—immigration counsel, relocation, and mobility providers—setting service expectations and replacing underperformers. You'll work with engineers to automate case intake, status tracking, document collection, and deadline management, freeing your time for complex cases rather than administrative work.
You'll track and report on key metrics: cost per case, time to authorization, risk concentration, and country-specific trends, surfacing issues before they become surprises. This is a solo function—there is no existing mobility team. You are building the entire capability from the ground up, with direct support from leadership and engineering resources.
The ideal candidate has 7+ years of hands-on experience running U.S. and Canadian employment-based immigration cases (H-1B, TN, L-1, O-1, PERM, adjustment of status). You've written RFE responses and arguments, not just forwarded documents. You've managed cases across NAMER, EMEA, and APAC through local counsel and know which questions surface problems early. You're comfortable being the entire function and thrive in building processes from scratch. You automate your own work by reflex, use AI and tooling naturally, and avoid manual tracking systems. You're warm, discreet, and detail-oriented under pressure—especially on difficult days when employees face denials, delays, or family work-permit complications. You prefer writing policy to waiting for one to exist.
