VAST Data is seeking a Professional Services Engineer to deliver exceptional onboarding and technical support for enterprise AI infrastructure deployments. You will be the technical backbone of customer success, responsible for installing, configuring, and optimizing VAST's data platform across customer environments worldwide.
Key responsibilities include: hardware installation and configuration (rack, stack, cable, label), VAST software deployment and cluster management, system troubleshooting and break-fix support, and occasional hardware relocation and expansion projects. You will work directly with customers to ensure their infrastructure meets performance standards and operates reliably. You'll also contribute to process documentation, training materials, and runbooks that enable VAST's partner ecosystem and support teams.
This role requires deep technical expertise in data storage architectures (SAN, NAS, DAS, cloud storage), Linux command-line administration, virtualization platforms (VMware), containerization (Docker), and networking fundamentals. You must be comfortable diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure issues under pressure, communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The role involves significant travel (75%) to customer sites globally, requiring proximity to major international airports. You must be able to safely handle equipment weighing 65–90 lbs. This is an ideal opportunity to be at the forefront of AI infrastructure as VAST scales rapidly in the AI era.
