Assured is modernizing insurance claims processing, which is currently manual, inefficient, and costly. The company provides software solutions to large insurers for everything from self-service claim filing to backend fraud detection. This Product SME role is a strategic, cross-functional position focused on conducting a comprehensive end-to-end evaluation of the property claims lifecycle.
You will own the complete property claims journey—from First Notice of Loss (FNOL) through resolution—identifying friction points, data gaps, and automation opportunities. Key responsibilities include:
• Conduct deep analysis of the full property claims workflow: FNOL intake, inspections, coverage evaluation, cause of loss determination, scoping and estimating, reserving, vendor coordination, settlement, and closure.
• Develop expertise in how property claims decisions are made and what data adjusters rely on (inspection reports, imagery, contractor estimates, policy data, weather data, third-party reports), including how this information is structured and where gaps exist.
• Identify breakdowns in claim workflow and documentation across data capture, estimate accuracy, reserve alignment, vendor handoffs, task routing, approvals, and customer communications.
• Own the integrity of core claims data across systems, ensuring key indicators (coverage determination, cause of loss, damage scope, reserve position, estimate accuracy, settlement status) are accurately captured and consistently reflected.
• Define standards for claims quality and defensibility, establishing expectations for inspection quality, documentation rigor, estimate accuracy, decision rationale, and reserve adequacy.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Claims Operations, Analytics, and Leadership to resolve systemic issues impacting claim efficiency, estimate accuracy, vendor performance, and customer experience.
• Improve data collection and structuring (inspections, imagery, estimates) and enhance how insights are delivered through dashboards, reporting, automation workflows, and AI models.
• Translate insights into measurable product improvements that reduce cycle time, improve loss ratio performance, minimize leakage, strengthen reserving accuracy, and increase operational efficiency.
• Influence roadmap decisions by articulating business impact across indemnity spend, expense management, vendor costs, subrogation recovery, litigation exposure, adjuster productivity, and customer retention.
• Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on property claims, guiding best practices and automation opportunities.
• Align teams around consistent process standards and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
This role sits at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Analytics and is expected to drive meaningful, company-wide impact.

• Proven ability to assess complex workflows and identify high-impact improvements
• Comfort owning ambiguous, high-leverage initiatives with measurable financial impact
