Parallel is a web infrastructure company that enables leading businesses in sales, marketing, insurance, and coding to build AI agents with flexible programmatic access to the web. The company has raised $230 million from top-tier VCs including Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia, Index Ventures, Spark Capital, and Khosla Ventures, and is currently valued at $2 billion.
As Product & Privacy Counsel, you will shape the legal foundation of this fast-growing AI company. You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to provide pragmatic guidance across the product lifecycle, advising on data collection, retention, consent, and privacy-by-design principles. You'll own Parallel's privacy and data protection program end-to-end, including policies, Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), data mapping, and compliance across GDPR, CCPA, and emerging AI and state privacy laws.
A key part of your role is building scalable solutions: you'll develop templates, playbooks, and self-service tools that allow the function to scale efficiently as the company grows. You'll also negotiate DPAs and data licensing deals with confidence, bringing both legal rigor and business pragmatism.
You bring ~5+ years of privacy, data protection, or product counseling experience (in-house or at a top firm), a J.D., and active U.S. bar membership (California preferred). You're technically fluent—comfortable with data pipelines, anonymization techniques, and zero-retention architectures—and have working knowledge of legal frameworks shaping AI products. You combine sound judgment with curiosity about how AI products are built and sold, and you work collaboratively with a low-ego style that helps teams move quickly without cutting corners.
Parallel operates as a flat, talent-dense organization with fully in-person work split between Palo Alto HQ and San Francisco office. The company culture emphasizes owning customer impact, obsessing over craft, accelerating change, creating win-wins, and making high-conviction bets.
