Brex is seeking a Product & Privacy Counsel to serve as a strategic legal leader navigating the intersection of financial services and technology regulation. This role is critical to scaling Brex's privacy program and ensuring compliance across global markets where the company operates. You will own the expansion and enhancement of data security and privacy programs in collaboration with engineering and business teams. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing processes for strict adherence to domestic and international privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), establishing monitoring and testing frameworks with the Compliance team. You will lead the drafting and negotiation of external data-related agreements, focusing on data protection, sharing, and product legalities while safeguarding Brex's interests. You will provide comprehensive legal oversight and actionable regulatory/compliance advice for all products, from design through go-to-market entry and marketing. This includes representing Brex externally as a key contact with financial partners and regulatory bodies, building relationships and addressing inquiries. You will collaborate with compliance, engineering, and business teams to identify innovation opportunities within strict regulatory compliance, assessing and mitigating risks. Additionally, you will strategically manage external legal counsel for regulatory, privacy, and data matters. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of experience combining law firm, technology, and fintech work, with a strong track record on privacy and financial regulatory issues. You must have deep understanding of CCPA, GDPR, and financial regulatory frameworks. A J.D. from an accredited law school with bar admission and active standing in at least one U.S. state is required. You should demonstrate exceptional judgment, integrity, and a product-minded approach to lawyering. Experience in fintech or adjacent innovative financial services is strongly preferred, along with international privacy expertise and cross-border regulatory navigation.
