Anthropic is seeking a Product Policy Manager for Product Risk to lead safety assessment and risk mitigation strategies for new product launches. In this role, you will develop and maintain risk assessment frameworks to identify potential safety risks associated with new AI product features and functionality. You'll conduct comprehensive product safety reviews covering both technical and non-technical harms, informing launch decisions and mitigation strategies. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including product, engineering, legal, and public policy teams to understand upcoming features, anticipate potential misuses or unintended consequences, and craft balanced policies that enable innovation while ensuring responsible AI deployment. Key responsibilities include analyzing the potential for misuse and harmful outputs of new model capabilities, translating analysis into concrete mitigations, leveraging subject matter expert risk assessments, and designing bespoke evaluations for products requiring tailored assessment. You will contribute to the company's product safety evaluation strategy, stay current on industry trends and emerging AI risks, and provide regular reports to senior leadership on product policy risks and mitigations. The role requires a strong technical background combined with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders, deep understanding of AI ethics and responsible AI principles, and demonstrated expertise in risk evaluation and program management.
