Tailscale is hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the developer experience for building Tailscale-native applications—software with Tailscale connectivity and identity built in from the start.
You will own the product roadmap for TSNet (Go library), tailscale-rs (Rust SDK family including C++, Python, Elixir bindings), the Tailscale CLI, and the core client library. Today, this experience is engineering-led with uneven developer friction: powerful APIs but real friction in the on-ramp from "I read a blog post" to "Tailscale is running inside my product." Auth key handling, onboarding flows, and documentation all need coherent storytelling.
Your core mission is to define what "Tailscale-native application" means—the reference architectures, golden paths, embedding patterns, and developer experience that makes adoption frictionless. You'll own the journey end-to-end: API ergonomics, error messages, documentation, examples, and upgrade paths. You'll set the Rust SDK strategy, treat the CLI as a first-class product for scripting and infrastructure-as-code, and run the internal dogfood loop with Aperture and Tailscale PAM as your most demanding customers.
You'll partner with GTM and Customer Success on embedding deals with AI platforms, developer tools, and infrastructure software, and engage developers directly through GitHub, Discord, and office hours to build a coherent picture of embedded developer needs.
Reporting to VP Product Ross Kukulinski, you'll work closely with Rust, Golang, and Clients engineering teams, plus internal product teams and external partners. This is a high-leverage role shaping how thousands of applications embed Tailscale.
