Perplexity AI is seeking a Senior Product Manager for Platform to own the strategy and execution of internal platforms and shared services that enable the company's product and engineering teams. This is a high-impact role focused on reducing duplicated work, improving reliability, and accelerating delivery across the organization. In this role, you will: - Understand the needs of internal teams and external customers who depend on platform capabilities. Use product data, operational feedback, and quality issues to identify and prioritize the highest-impact problems. - Transform recurring needs into shared services, tools, and workflows that eliminate duplicated effort. Exercise judgment about when to build reusable capabilities versus using existing solutions or simpler approaches. - Work directly with product, engineering, and operational teams to understand their workflows, identify recurring problems, and anticipate future capability needs. - Prioritize platform investments across new product enablement, reliability, efficiency, and technical debt. Make clear tradeoffs between near-term delivery and long-term flexibility. - Define and track success through business impact, reliability, cost to serve, and reduced manual work. Connect these measures to customer and business outcomes. - Partner closely with engineering on technical tradeoffs, build-versus-buy decisions, and rollout plans. Write clear requirements and drive delivery from problem definition through launch and iteration. You will be building products simultaneously for external customers, AI agents, and internal employees, requiring deep systems thinking and the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: - Proven experience owning product strategy and execution on technical products, platforms, or shared systems used by multiple teams (e.g., billing/monetization, identity/access, developer platforms, data/experimentation, internal tooling, support). - Strong technical fluency: ability to reason about APIs, data flows, system dependencies, and failure modes; comfortable working closely with engineers on consequential tradeoffs. - Strong analytical skills: can investigate problems independently, define meaningful metrics, and evaluate the impact of platform investments. - Excellent written and verbal communication: ability to align teams around priorities and make difficult decisions when stakeholder needs compete. - High ownership and sound judgment in fast-moving environments; comfortable moving between long-term strategy and hands-on execution without adding unnecessary process. - Focus on customer outcomes and product quality, including when your immediate users are internal teams. - Systems thinker and detail-oriented problem solver with experience wrangling complex, thorny problems. Excited about diving into messy workflows, analyzing support tickets, thinking through edge cases, and considering enterprise vs. consumer workflows. - Experience working on platforms with multiple stakeholders and non-trivial tradeoffs. - AI-native mindset: ability to build AI products whose outputs require evaluation, safeguards, and human-in-the-loop design. - Some experience working on critical software: support platforms/agents, legal/compliance tooling, identity/account tooling, billing, fraud, or trust-and-safety. - High ownership mentality; driven to improve current workflows and clear backlogs.
