Pencil is an AI-powered SaaS platform for advertising content creation, backed by Sequoia and acquired by The Brandtech Group. You will own delivery of a strategic program (Sept–Dec 2026) to launch a new media product capability, turning contractual scope into a sequenced backlog and coordinating delivery across engineering, internal platform teams, external data dependencies, and enterprise client specialists.
Your core responsibilities include: owning the product backlog with domain-literate acceptance criteria before development begins; sequencing a 3–4 month build with the tech lead across dependencies in the Media pod (data engine, agent platform, platform features) and external APIs; running milestone cadence with stakeholders to surface risks and descopes early in writing; owning the design track by briefing and coordinating a freelance designer; and preparing the pilot, including onboarding flows, operator playbooks, and measurement plans for first enterprise clients.
You must bring real media-domain expertise—non-negotiable. You have worked in or close to paid media, ad platforms, or commerce/retail media (agency, brand, or ad-tech side) and can discuss media specialist workflows credibly in their vocabulary. You have 3+ years of product management on technical products (platforms, APIs, data, or AI). You have proven delivery against fixed milestones with external stakeholders (enterprise contracts, client commitments, or equivalent). Writing is a core skill: tickets, acceptance criteria, milestone updates. You are based in Europe with CET working hours.
You thrive if you descope early in writing rather than slip quietly, treat good acceptance criteria as product artifacts not paperwork, and enjoy being the person who knows why every ticket exists and what it changes for the media team using it. Nice-to-haves include LLM product experience, partner-agency squad exposure, and both agency-side and brand-side advertising experience.
Success is measured by: milestone gates met with risks and descopes surfaced in writing before they impact delivery; ticket quality with acceptance criteria signable by domain readers without engineer translation; and pilot readiness with first enterprise clients onboarded, a working operator playbook, and a measurement plan that tells an impact story.
