Synthesia is hiring a Staff/Principal Product Manager to own the Interactive Avatar API, a real-time avatar platform in closed beta that enables developers to integrate lifelike, responsive avatars into their products, websites, and internal tools.
The role spans end-to-end product ownership: defining the developer-facing API surface (SDK, integration patterns, documentation), ensuring real-time experience quality, and charting the path from closed beta to general availability. You'll work directly with engineering and research teams building the real-time avatar stack, and with design partners already live in beta.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the Interactive Avatar API product strategy and roadmap, balancing quality, latency, and cost trade-offs
- Engaging deeply with developers and teams building on the beta to understand integration challenges, production requirements, and what makes the real-time experience feel human rather than uncanny
- Translating developer feedback into clear product direction and specifications that guide engineering
- Partnering with go-to-market and commercial teams to define packaging, pricing, and business model—recognizing that real-time APIs have fundamentally different economics than batch video
- Defining and tracking metrics across adoption, integration success, real-time quality, reliability, and commercial signals
You bring 5+ years of product experience with direct ownership of a developer-facing API, SDK, or platform. You're comfortable in 0→1 environments where discovery and delivery happen in parallel. You have strong technical fluency in real-time systems and latency trade-offs, and you can write clear specs and strategy docs that engineers can act on. You think commercially about how developer products get adopted and monetized. You care deeply about subjective quality—understanding that a real-time avatar either feels present and responsive or feels off, and knowing how to make that bar concrete and defensible.
