Salary: USD 177,000 - 203,000 / annual
Muon Space, a LEO satellite constellation provider founded in 2021, is seeking a Product Manager II to own the product strategy and roadmap for bits-to-ground communications and mission-critical software systems. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, you will drive product decisions across three interconnected domains: RF and optical communications links, Muon Sim (a digital twin platform for mission design and operations), and software test infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include owning the product roadmap for communications systems (RF and optical), expanding Muon Sim into a comprehensive tool for software iteration and throughput analysis, and building out test automation and hardware-in-the-loop environments. You will author Product Requirements Documents, conduct customer interviews to validate product-market fit, and translate mission needs into detailed technical requirements. This role requires close collaboration with multiple engineering teams (ground software, simulation, test, mission systems), peer product managers, and leadership across the organization.
You will work independently across concurrent workstreams, influence technical investment without direct authority, and thrive in uncertain environments with incomplete requirements and shifting schedules. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week on-site in San Jose.
Required: 3–5 years of product management experience in technically complex software environments, with demonstrated success owning products in communications systems, simulation, test infrastructure, or adjacent deep-tech domains. You must have experience coordinating across multiple engineering teams, delivering major features spanning months of effort, and translating customer mission needs into acceptance criteria. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field required.
Nice-to-have: active U.S. Government security clearance, familiarity with RF/optical communications or link budgets, experience with mission design or constellation modeling, test automation expertise, space software background, or startup/high-growth experience.
