Tensec is a fintech company building cross-border payments and transaction banking infrastructure for small and mid-sized businesses in Latin America and the US. The company moves money across borders for exporters and importers, currently live in Mexico and Brazil, and expanding to the US. Founded in 2023 by alumni from PayPal, Credit Karma, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, Tensec is backed by Quiet Capital, Costanoa Ventures, Renegade Partners, Coinbase Ventures, and others. In this Product Manager role, you will lead the development of an AI-powered finance automation layer that sits on top of Tensec's payment infrastructure. The harder problem the company is solving is the finance work that decides what to bill, what to chase, and what to reconcile—work that is currently manual, spread across disconnected systems, and invisible to finance teams until after the fact. You will have a forward deployment component, literally sitting inside clients' finance teams to learn how their work actually happens and designing workflows that fit their process. Engineers will build the connections into their systems; you will decide what moves between them, which parts an AI agent takes, and where a person stays in the loop. This is an early-stage product line where the first clients determine what can be generalized and productized—you will make that call. In your first 12–18 months, you will: - Get an AI agent into daily use inside a client's finance team within your first two quarters, automating one workflow that was previously done by hand. - Design the data flow for each workflow: understand where the truth lives, what each system owns, what goes stale and how fast, and where handoffs drop information. - Draw the line between AI and human for each workflow—where the agent acts autonomously, where it proposes and a person confirms, where it escalates. - Standardize processes without breaking them, turning five different ways of doing the same job into one supported way plus genuine exceptions. - Shorten the delay between upstream events and finance awareness, with measurable baselines. - Turn client-specific work into product by deciding whether each workflow is bespoke, configurable, or core. You will also own requirements gathering with controllers, AR/AP leads, billing and collections teams; write specs and flows for engineers; build working prototypes using AI tools; own the client relationship as the finance lead's primary contact; work through exceptions like disputes, rate differences, short payments, and late charges; and partner with in-house logistics expertise on pricing and service design. You will work hybrid, 3 days in office, based in Palo Alto, Miami, or NYC, with willingness to travel on-site with clients in the US and Latin America. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years building or delivering software for finance and back-office teams, including at least one 0-to-1 product that went from nothing to real usage. Product management is the most common path, but implementation leads, solutions leads, and finance operators who moved into product are equally considered. Trajectory matters more than title. - Deep understanding of the finance function: AR, AP, billing, collections, credit control, payment application, reconciliation, and month-end close. You know why controllers care about aging buckets and what makes month-end go badly. - Ability to read a process and see the data underneath it. Given two systems and a handoff, you can work out what each owns, where truth lives, what goes stale, and what breaks when a person is the integration. - Judgment about where AI belongs and where it does not. You can identify which parts of a finance workflow an agent should own, which need a person, and which should stay deterministic because control matters more than cleverness. - Hands-on experience with AI as a product person. You have built with LLMs yourself (even in prototypes), are comfortable with prompting, retrieval, and evaluation, and can distinguish a demo that works from a system that works. Production coding not required. - Strong customer-facing skills. You can run working sessions with people burned by software before and leave them on your side. - Ability to hold your own with engineers without doing their job. You ask good questions about system capabilities and limitations. - Working Spanish is a plus (partner finance teams work in Spanish; the signal is often in what they say to each other). - Based in Miami, NYC, or Palo Alto, willing to travel on-site with clients in US and Latin America. NICE TO HAVE: - Background as accountant, controller, auditor, or analyst. - Experience with order-to-cash, AP automation, spend management, billing, or revenue systems. - Shipped a product with significant LLM component. - Built for complex, multi-party industries where documents and exceptions drive work. - Consulting or solutions delivery experience, especially if you moved to product side. - Experience in Brazil, Mexico, or building for Latin American SMBs.
