Papaya Global is a B2B fintech unicorn ($400M+ raised) revolutionizing global payroll and payments across 160+ countries. You will own the end-to-end Banco consumer product—a wallet, card issuing, KYC/onboarding, and withdrawal platform that reaches millions of workers globally through enterprise distribution.
You will report to the Director of Product (Payments) and lead a dedicated squad of design, analytics, and engineering. Your mandate: raise the quality bar while growing activation and retention among workers onboarded by enterprise customers.
Scope of ownership:
- End-to-end consumer experience: KYC/identity verification, multi-currency wallet, virtual and physical card issuing, withdrawals to bank and stablecoin, across web and mobile
- Activation and retention: convert invited workers into active, engaged users; reduce drop-off in onboarding and first-payout funnels
- Reliability and quality: drive down errors, support tickets, and friction to make payment receipt seamless and dependable
- Localization at scale: adapt experience across 160+ countries, dozens of payout rails, banking conventions, and languages
- Consumer data model: design smart UX leveraging real objects (addresses, bank accounts, identity)—IBAN lookups, address autofill, one-time data entry
Key requirements:
- Proven consumer product ownership: shipped a B2C or consumer-grade app (fintech, neobanking, payments, wallets, gig-economy payouts preferred) where the user is an individual and the bar is effortless UX
- Mobile-first instinct: think in funnels, activation, retention; measurably improved onboarding or engagement
- Payments/fintech depth: understand money movement (wallets, cards, KYC/AML, payout rails) or proven ability to master complex regulated domains quickly
- Metrics fluency: quote baseline→intervention→result; know how metrics are measured and their limitations
- Correctness instinct for money: grasp asymmetry (wrong payout costs more than blocked one); design accordingly
- Individual ownership: tell product stories in "I" terms—decisions made, alternatives rejected, outcomes
- Practical AI fluency: use AI daily in product work; concrete examples; bonus for shipped AI features, evals, failure modes, human-in-the-loop
Nice to have: cross-border/multi-currency payments, card issuing, KYC-provider integration; scaling consumer apps from early/unstable to reliable; experience in both large PM orgs and 0→1 environments; hands-on shipping.
