Customer.io is a leading customer communication platform used by over 9,000 companies to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS daily. The company powers automated, behavior-driven messaging that customers actually want to receive.
You will own the product experience of Customer.io's self-serve journey, from signup and onboarding through activation and upgrade. This is a high-impact individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management, sitting alongside a Senior PM on the self-serve pod.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own a defined slice of the self-serve customer journey with full product ownership
- Identify and resolve friction points using data, experimentation, and direct customer insight
- Define and track success metrics for activation, retention, and monetization
- Run A/B tests and growth experiments to drive conversion and engagement
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, CX, Design, and Engineering to deliver improvements that reduce time-to-value
- Communicate priorities and progress clearly across teams and leadership
The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of SaaS product management experience, ideally with self-serve or product-led growth exposure. You should have a track record of improving activation or retention metrics, strong analytical and experimentation skills, and experience with AI-powered tooling. You're data-driven but comfortable with ambiguity, excel at simplifying complexity, and thrive in a remote, async-first environment. Deep curiosity about customer success and the ability to work autonomously are essential.
Compensation is transparent and location-based: Zone 1 (highest COL): $164,400–$187,200; Zone 2: $150,700–$171,600; Zone 3: $137,000–$156,000 USD annually. Benefits include 100% coverage of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and supplemental insurance; 16 weeks paid parental leave; unlimited PTO; remote work and wellness stipends; and professional development budget.
