OpenAI's People Innovation Labs is seeking a Product Manager focused on AI enablement to serve as a forward-deployed PM embedded within the People Team. This role sits at the intersection of product management, AI enablement, internal operations, and hands-on exploration.
You will act as the product lead for the People Team, identifying, prototyping, and scaling high-impact AI use cases across recruiting, HR, culture, talent management, and company-wide operations. Working closely with People Team subject matter experts, you'll understand workflows in depth, uncover friction points, and translate operational needs into AI-native solutions.
Key responsibilities include building and testing lightweight prototypes using OpenAI tools, internal systems, no-code/low-code workflows, agents, and automations. You'll help the People Team adopt AI effectively by developing patterns, playbooks, and enablement materials. A critical part of the role is determining which prototypes and workflows should graduate into durable software products owned by PIL engineering, translating successful explorations into clear product briefs, requirements, and handoff plans.
You'll maintain a portfolio view of AI enablement opportunities, distinguishing between experiments, one-off tools, scalable workflows, and product candidates. You'll work with PIL engineers to evaluate technical feasibility, sequence investments, and make pragmatic tradeoffs between speed, quality, privacy, and security. Success metrics include adoption, time saved, workflow quality, user satisfaction, and operational impact.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years in product management, technical product strategy, founder/operator roles, or AI enablement work combining product judgment with hands-on execution. You should thrive in ambiguous, high-context environments, have strong product instincts, and be credible with both technical and non-technical audiences. Builder-minded and comfortable getting hands-on with AI tools, you communicate clearly and can quickly understand complex operational workflows. Experience with recruiting, HR, employee experience, internal tools, or workflow automation is helpful but not required.
