Anthropic is seeking a Product Engineer for Applied AI to drive adoption of frontier AI systems across Japan. In this role, you will serve as the primary technical advisor for enterprise customers evaluating Claude, Anthropic's leading large language model. You'll work closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to architect innovative, bespoke LLM solutions that address customer business needs while maintaining safety and reliability standards.
Key responsibilities include: acting as technical advisor for prospective customers, demonstrating how Claude solves high-value business problems through system architecture design and novel prompting techniques; partnering with account executives to understand requirements and develop customized pilots, prototypes, and evaluation suites; driving technical decision-making on optimal setup, architecture, and integration of Claude into customer infrastructure; recommending solutions to technical roadblocks; supporting customer onboarding and serving as ongoing technical advisor through implementation and beyond go-live; occasional travel to customer sites for workshops and relationship building; and leading vision and strategy for innovative solutions leveraging latest model capabilities across Japan.
You should have 4+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager, Forward Deployed Engineer, or Platform Engineer. Native-level Japanese fluency and business-level English are required. You'll need strong technical aptitude with proficiency in Python, recent production experience with large language models, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while designing simple, understandable solutions. Excellent communication skills are essential—you'll explain complex topics to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders. You should be excited about cross-organizational collaboration, mentoring others, and advancing safe AI systems.
Minimum education is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. The company expects staff to be in office at least 25% of the time under their hybrid policy, though some roles may require more. Anthropic sponsors visas and will make reasonable efforts to support visa sponsorship if an offer is extended.
