This is a Staff/Principal-level individual contributor role for a senior engineer who combines deep technical craft with product instinct. Rather than implementing handed-down tasks, you own problems end-to-end: understanding customer needs, designing solutions, and shipping working software using AI agents as your primary force multiplier.
You work by taking a defined problem, shaping the approach, and directing multiple AI agents in parallel while rigorously reviewing their output. The pace is rapid—an idea sketched in the morning can become a functional prototype by lunch and a working product by week's end. You think like a product manager, care like a designer, and build like an engineer.
This role demands judgment and taste in every decision. You determine what to build, what not to build, and prove through evals, testing, and review that AI-generated work is reliable enough to ship. Success is measured in customer and business outcomes, not task completion.
You build rapidly by composing solutions from the best available tools—internal or external—and apply original innovation where it matters most. You know when to leverage existing platforms and components, when to extend them, and when to reinvent entirely, always aiming for meaningful product advantage.
As Diligent transforms into an AI-native organization, you set the standard for what AI-native engineering looks like in a regulated, security- and compliance-conscious environment. You establish patterns, prompts, evals, and guardrails that colleagues reuse, raising the leverage of every team you touch while upholding the company's bar for quality, security, and compliance.
