VGS is the world's leader in payment tokenization, processing over 10 billion monthly interactions and tokenizing 9 billion tokens. The company powers modern payments and agentic commerce for Fortune 500 companies, merchants, banks, and fintechs. As a Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer (IC6), you will serve as a technical leader on the Platform Engineering team, architecting and scaling global cloud infrastructure for mission-critical, high-throughput payments applications. You will own key platform foundations and drive technical strategy, architecture, and reliability standards for designated domains within a multi-region AWS environment. Key responsibilities include: • Design and build multi-region, high-availability AWS infrastructure, evolving from hand-crafted environments to standardized, globally scalable fleets managed through code (IaC). • Drive resiliency and automation by replacing manual toil with self-healing infrastructure using GitOps, modern CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices. • Build end-to-end observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry to proactively identify bottlenecks. Own incident management and conduct blameless post-mortems to continuously harden reliability. • Force-multiply engineering velocity by partnering with Product, Security, and Core Engineering teams. Design "Golden Paths" that reduce friction for feature teams and mentor the organization on moving fast with high alignment. • Architect and operate high-performance, low-latency private connectivity for external customers. Partner strategically at the design and architectural level for platform enablement. Required qualifications: • 10+ years taking personal ownership of outcomes in complex, large-scale distributed systems within mission-critical environments. • Advanced proficiency in AWS and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform). • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and GitOps workflows (Flux, Argo, GitHub Actions). • Strong coding skills in Python, Go, or Bash for infrastructure automation and operational tooling. • Deep experience implementing Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry at scale. • Solid understanding of cloud security, API Gateways, load balancing, and network isolation. Nice-to-have: experience with tokenization, payment processing, cryptology, security products, Kafka/MSK, or distributed data streaming platforms.
