Unlimited Industries is automating construction end-to-end to solve infrastructure challenges and usher in a new era of abundance in the physical world. As a Hardware Engineer, you will lead engineering development to expand and refine capabilities within an automated design engine product that uses AI to automate every step of the engineering design process. You'll produce end construction design deliverables for large-scale capital projects such as utility-scale power plants and data centers.
The ideal candidate brings multidisciplinary hardware expertise spanning mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, robotics, or aerospace domains—ideally with experience across multiple disciplines from industries like automotive, aerospace, or robotics. You should demonstrate T-shaped technical excellence: broad understanding across multiple domains and their interactions, combined with deep expertise in 1-2 areas.
Key responsibilities include owning end-to-end engineering scope on complex multidisciplinary products, applying first-principles thinking to challenge conventional wisdom and drive step-function improvements, and executing hands-on technical work rather than managing others. You'll prioritize ruthlessly by identifying bottlenecks and solving the most important problems in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
A bonus qualification is experience building simulation, calculation, or analysis software tools. A significant part of this role involves translating engineering knowledge into scalable software; the company leverages AI coding agents to assist engineers in building these tools, even if you have limited prior software experience.
The role is in-person in San Francisco, CA, with a 5-day-per-week office requirement. The company is actively hiring across all experience levels, from new graduates to senior engineers, with emphasis on mission alignment and extreme ownership.
