Envato is an all-in-one creative asset toolkit acquired by Shutterstock in 2024, designed by and for creative professionals including designers, filmmakers, editors, and creators. The platform combines world-class creative assets with AI tools to help professionals find, explore, refine, and deploy their work.
As a Product Designer on the Visual Craft team, you will shape the core Envato app experience. Your work will focus on helping creative professionals discover and use assets, generate content with AI, and refine their creative workflows. You'll tackle real problems: making AI-assisted video and graphics adaptation intuitive, maintaining visual consistency across generated content, and sequencing workflows that guide users from exploration to professional results without unnecessary complexity.
You will move ideas from early conception through to polished, shipped experiences. You'll prototype rapidly using Figma, code, motion, and AI-assisted tools to test ideas with real users. You'll collaborate closely with Product and Engineering from the start—influencing what gets built, not just how it looks. You'll also contribute to evolving Envato's visual language alongside the Product Visual Lead and design team, bringing your own visual judgment and ideas to the conversation.
The role requires you to work alongside engineers through implementation, writing code and resolving visual and interaction details to ensure the experience holds up in production.
Envato values remote-first flexibility across Australia and New Zealand, with the option to work from another location for up to 3 months per year. The company offers a connection budget for in-person team gatherings, learning and development budget, home office allowance, comprehensive wellbeing support, volunteer leave, and generous parental leave (20 weeks primary, 6 weeks secondary).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong visual taste and craft: you make beautiful things with intentional detail in typography, composition, hierarchy, motion, and interaction
- Product sense: you understand commercial product design for real users doing real work; you know when to prioritize beauty, clarity, or invisibility
- UX fundamentals: you can explain design decisions and understand the reasoning behind your work
- Curiosity about creative technology: you're experimenting with AI, prototyping, design-to-code, or other emerging tools
- Collaboration skills: you can share unfinished work, take feedback constructively, and work with engineers and product people without requiring formal design briefs
- Portfolio requirement: applicants must submit something built using AI and something demonstrating visual craft (can be the same project); product work, client work, and independent experiments are all welcome. Include a few lines about your contribution, tools used, and details you prioritized.
