Anthropic is seeking a Product Designer for its Design Systems team. Design at Anthropic sits at the intersection of craft, research, and product intuition. The Design Systems team works on products used by millions daily, designing interactions that don't yet have established conventions. You will shape how people experience AI—whether Claude feels like a tool or collaborator, whether it earns trust or erodes it. The role involves partnering closely with engineers and researchers, often designing around capabilities emerging in real time. You'll stay close to the models, prototype rapidly, and be comfortable with ambiguity. The Design Systems team defines and elevates the language of UI and core interactions across all Claude products, from claude.ai to Claude Code, including guidance Claude itself follows when generating UI. You'll join an early-stage team working with design engineers and product designers across the company. Key responsibilities include: - Design and evolve the system from foundations (color, type, spacing, icons, tokens, theming) to components like menus, dialogs, sidebars, and the chat composer - Design the expressive layer as a system: motion, illustration, and icons that are brand and system at once - Make the system legible to Claude as well as people through guidance, metadata, and evals - Partner with product teams to help designers and engineers apply the system well, feeding recurring gaps back into the system - Prototype in code and ship changes in the design-system package alongside engineers You care deeply about details that make something feel polished, trustworthy, and human. You ship fast and learn in the open, preferring to get something in front of users and iterate rather than wait for perfection. Minimum qualifications: - Strong visual and interaction craft - Experience building or working on a design system - Experience with design tokens, theming, and accessibility standards - Fluency in tools from Figma to code Preferred qualifications: - Experience building products at the highest level of craft - Shipped voice or other beyond-the-screen work with native mobile instincts - Designed an icon set, illustration style, or motion system used across products - Experience defining evals, lint rules, or automated checks for UI quality - 8+ years of product design experience Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a field relevant to the role.
