Rippling is a unified platform for HR, IT, and Finance that consolidates workforce systems—payroll, expenses, benefits, computers, and third-party apps—into a single system. The company has raised $1.4B+ from top-tier investors and is headquartered in San Francisco.
As the Product Design Lead for AI Growth, you will shape how customers adopt and trust AI across Rippling's platform. Thousands of companies already run their HR, IT, and Finance operations on Rippling; your role is to help admins and employees within those companies embrace AI for real operational work.
Rippling holds unique context about each company—who works there, compensation, devices, apps, and approval workflows—enabling AI to take on meaningful work. However, customers must choose to use it. You will design the growth patterns and adoption flows that help admins start small, see results on their own company data, and progressively give Rippling AI larger responsibilities.
Designers at Rippling are product builders. You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to define problems and ship experiences that measurably change customer behavior. Work begins with LLMs for problem clarification, moves through tools like Cursor and Claude Code for refinement, and ships to customers. You remain involved through testing and launch, owning outcomes alongside your partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive design for AI adoption across Rippling, from admin setup to employee daily use
- Work with PM and data science to define activation metrics and guardrails that identify wins that harm retention
- Build shared growth patterns (entry points, prompts, setup flows, upgrade moments) to standardize across product teams
- Run experiments with PM and data partners; read results with judgment and flag metrics that win numerically but lose with users
- Design upgrade and usage-limit moments that feel fair and never surprise customers
- Spend time with customers to understand where AI helps and where they abandon it; translate insights into priorities
- Use LLMs to sharpen problems and prototype in code with AI tools to test real interactions
- Raise the bar for growth design across the organization; share learnings from failed tests and mentor newer designers
Rippling values in-office collaboration. For office-based employees (those within a defined radius of a Rippling office), working in the office at least three days per week is considered an essential function.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of end-to-end product design experience shipping complex, high-impact products from concept to launch
- Portfolio of shipped work that measurably changed behavior (activation, adoption, retention, or conversion); include failed experiments and your response
- Experience setting growth direction for a whole product area and influencing teams you don't manage
- Hands-on growth design across onboarding, activation, and monetization; B2B or AI product experience preferred, especially where buyer and daily user differ
- Comfort with funnels, cohorts, and experiment design; judgment to spot misleading results
- Daily use of LLMs and AI prototyping tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar), whether or not you write production code
- Strong interaction and visual craft; growth surfaces are often customers' first impression
- Clear communication, including explaining test results to stakeholders hoping for different outcomes
