Tripadvisor is seeking a Product Data Scientist to join the Experiences team (Viator marketplace). In this role, you'll be the analytical backbone for one or more product pods, owning measurement, reporting, experimentation, and insights that drive product decisions. Key responsibilities include: Experimentation: Design and analyze A/B tests across Viator's marketplace using sound statistical methods. Champion experimentation best practices including power calculations, guardrail metrics, and multiple testing corrections. Develop mastery in causal inference and advanced techniques (difference-in-differences, propensity scoring, synthetic controls) to answer non-randomizable questions such as measuring pricing impact on supplier retention or long-term personalization effects on traveler lifetime value. Strategic Analysis & Measurement: Own the measurement framework for your product area by defining key metrics, building instrumentation, and surfacing actionable insights. Conduct exploratory analyses using tree-based and regression modeling to identify signals of high LTV. Enable self-service through scalable datasets, metrics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks. Translate analytical outputs into clear product recommendations that inform sprint planning and testing strategies. Stakeholder Management: Act as a thought partner with product managers and engineers to ensure the right data questions are being asked. Translate analyses into clear narratives accessible to non-technical audiences, emphasizing actionable insights over technical detail. Champion unbiased, rigorous analysis—including delivering inconvenient truths when data doesn't support stakeholder hypotheses. You'll bring several years of experience in data science, analytics, or quantitative research at a data-driven organization. Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience with large datasets are essential. You're proficient in Python or R, understand statistical foundations, and have experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex analyses into actionable insights are critical.
