Beacon Software is seeking a Product Counsel to serve as the primary legal partner to its product and engineering functions across a growing portfolio of vertical market software companies. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the VP of Legal, focused on advising on product development, intellectual property strategy, and product-related legal matters across diverse industries.
Key responsibilities include: serving as an embedded legal advisor to product and engineering teams at Beacon and portfolio companies, advising on new features, roadmap decisions, and go-to-market launches from ideation through release; owning and managing Beacon's IP portfolio strategy including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets; drafting and negotiating product-facing commercial agreements such as SaaS licenses, API terms, marketplace agreements, and technology partnerships; building and managing an open source compliance program across the portfolio; leading product and IP due diligence on acquisition targets; and advising on AI and emerging technology legal and IP dimensions.
The ideal candidate brings broad regulatory fluency across multiple industries, deep product legal expertise, and experience with IP portfolio management. You will thrive in a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment, build trusted relationships with product and engineering teams, and develop scalable legal support models. There is meaningful opportunity to grow this role to encompass broader commercial contracting responsibilities as Beacon scales. This is a role for a lawyer who wants to be embedded in product strategy and innovation, not just a downstream gatekeeper.
