Applied Intuition is seeking an experienced Product Counsel to join its legal team, reporting to the General Counsel. This strategic role combines internal and external-facing responsibilities, providing legal guidance to Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing teams on issues including autonomy, AI, privacy, data protection, accessibility, intellectual property, and emerging technologies.
Key responsibilities include: serving as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams navigating autonomy and AI-related legal issues; leading compliance, safety, and IP protection projects; reviewing product integrations for contractual, data protection, and IP compliance; translating complex legal advice into actionable guidance for product and engineering teams under tight deadlines; managing the company's patenting program and IP strategy; building systems, policies, and processes that balance risk management with innovation; reviewing customer contracts, inbound agreements, and marketing materials; collaborating with external regulators and industry groups on AI and autonomy developments; and supporting M&A transactions.
The ideal candidate is a business-minded lawyer with deep tech expertise who thrives in fast-paced, execution-focused environments. Required qualifications include 8+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience (preferably in technology), a J.D. from an accredited law school, active bar membership, and demonstrated experience advising engineering and product teams throughout the product development lifecycle on regulatory requirements and risk mitigation for emerging technologies. The role requires exceptional organizational skills, ability to juggle competing priorities, and comfort working in ambiguity at the intersection of law and new technologies.
Nice-to-have qualifications include combined law firm and in-house experience, a computer science or engineering degree, familiarity with machine learning and autonomy technologies, and privacy certifications (CIPP-E, CIPP-US, CIPM).
