Helsing is a defence AI company focused on protecting democracies through technological leadership and responsible AI development. As a Procurement Project Manager, you will own procurement activities across development and customer projects, working within established programme structures while building independence in supplier management, timeline coordination, and cost control.
You will be involved early in project phases, contributing to sourcing decisions before they become fixed constraints. Your work bridges engineering, supply chain, production, and external partners. You will ensure the right suppliers are selected, costs stay on track, and quality is maintained from prototyping through production ramp-up.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support and lead procurement activities across development and customer projects, ensuring cost, quality, and schedule targets are met
- Engage early in project planning to contribute to sourcing strategies, flag supply risks, and align procurement timelines with engineering milestones
- Research, evaluate, and recommend suppliers for technical components and systems using clear assessment criteria
- Serve as interface between engineering, procurement, suppliers, and production teams, ensuring technical requirements are clearly communicated
- Support prototyping, industrialisation, and serial production ramp-up phases, adapting procurement approaches as projects evolve
- Track supplier performance against commitments and flag deviations in cost, quality, or delivery early
- Contribute to building and maintaining a qualified supplier base meeting Helsing's technical and compliance requirements
Requirements:
- Experience managing procurement activities within technically complex or project-driven environments, taking responsibility for defined workstreams from requirements through delivery
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and engage meaningfully with engineering teams to assess supplier capabilities
- Experience coordinating across cross-functional teams, keeping engineering, production, and supplier stakeholders aligned
- Experience supporting or leading supplier negotiations and relationship management for technical components, with understanding of contract terms
- Structured, methodical approach to managing competing priorities with ability to escalate clearly when trade-offs arise
- Clear communication in written and spoken English, adjusting detail level for technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to have:
- Exposure to defence, aerospace, or other regulated industries where compliance, traceability, and quality requirements shape procurement
- Familiarity with industrialisation or production ramp-up phases
- Experience with ERP or procurement management systems in project-led organisations
