Solo.io is seeking a Principal Solutions Engineer to join the team as a pre-sales technical professional on the US East Coast. This role bridges technical expertise and sales strategy, working alongside Sales Executives to understand customer challenges and deliver tailored solutions using Solo's API and Service Mesh Management Platform (Gloo).
You will lead discovery calls to understand customer pain points around cloud migrations, microservices environments, and legacy infrastructure modernization. Your responsibilities include delivering product presentations, demos, and technical workshops; planning and executing proof-of-concept engagements to validate Solo solutions; and providing architectural guidance on cloud-native platforms like Kubernetes. You'll act as a trusted advisor to customers, sales teams, and product teams, helping them navigate integration challenges and successfully adopt Solo.io solutions.
Additionally, you will establish and maintain deep knowledge of Solo's product portfolio, related technologies, and competitive landscape. You'll evangelize Solo.io through speaking engagements at conferences, meetups, and webinars, as well as through content creation (blogs, articles, videos). Collaboration with consulting and customer success teams is essential to ensure customer adoption and success.
While work is primarily virtual, this role requires willingness to travel up to 30% for events, training, and customer meetings, with a focus on the US East Coast region.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience supporting a technical sales process
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes
- Experience building compelling content and demonstrations for cloud-native solutions
- Highly desirable: experience with Istio and/or API Gateways
