Amplitude, a leading AI analytics platform serving 5,200+ customers including Atlassian, Burger King, and NBCUniversal, is seeking a Principal Program Manager to own global immigration, mobility, and relocation programs end-to-end.
The immigration caseload has doubled in under a year and continues growing. This role consolidates three interconnected functions—immigration case management, HR compliance, and mobility/relocation—under a single accountable owner. The company has engaged Envoy as its immigration services vendor and platform of record, and now needs an internal expert to translate legal guidance into business decisions, manage budgets, build policy, and ensure compliance across all countries where Amplitude hires and sponsors employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Immigration & Vendor Management: Manage end-to-end immigration caseload in partnership with Envoy, translating legal advice into business recommendations for hiring managers, recruiters, and employees. Forecast and approve immigration budgets, track vendor invoices, monitor changes to immigration law and policy, own and build Amplitude's immigration policy, and serve as the internal escalation point for immigration questions.
Mobility & Relocation: Design and stand up Amplitude's relocation program from scratch, including vendor selection, RFP, policy design, and package tiers. Own the relocation vendor relationship post-launch. Advise recruiters and business stakeholders on relocation costs to inform offers. Partner with Recruiting to flag visa and relocation needs early and with People Operations to execute moves, onboarding, and benefits coordination.
Compliance: Manage core HR compliance including I-9 reverification, LCA postings, PERM recruitment steps, and statutory deadlines. Build and maintain compliance reporting for People and Legal leadership. Manage broader People Operations compliance reporting (e.g., new hire training completion) to keep the company audit-ready. Maintain audit-ready record keeping as directed.
Program Health: Build reporting on case volume, spend, and program health; present recurring views to leadership rather than one-off tasks.
This is a senior individual contributor role with scope to set direction and represent the program to leadership. You will build the program's foundation solo, with room to argue for support once scale is proven.
Requirements:
- Senior or principal-level experience (P4/P5 equivalent) running immigration and global mobility programs end-to-end, not administering pieces of them.
- Global experience managing cases and compliance obligations across multiple countries (not just U.S. sponsorship); understanding of how immigration, tax, and employment rules interact across borders.
- Hands-on experience across AMER, APAC, and EMEA regions, with working understanding of regional immigration and mobility differences.
- Direct partnership experience with immigration services vendors or platforms of record (Envoy, Fragomen, BAL, or similar); knowledge of what good vendor management looks like at scale.
- Working knowledge of U.S. employment-based visa categories (H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, PERM/green card sponsorship) and judgment to translate vendor legal guidance into business recommendations.
- Direct experience building or maintaining relocation services (packages, costs, vendor management, recruiter/manager consulting). If you haven't built one but know what good looks like, that's acceptable.
- Track record of building programs from a blank page; this role inherits an in-progress immigration policy and stands up a relocation program that doesn't exist yet.
- Strong cross-functional partnership skills; success depends on Recruiting and People Operations, not around them.
- Sound judgment and discretion handling sensitive personal and immigration-status data.
- Clear, plain-language communication to explain immigration and compliance topics to hiring managers and executives without the background you have.
