Payoneer is a global fintech platform founded in 2005 that simplifies cross-border business payments and financial workflows for over 2.5 million users across 190+ countries. The Principal Product Researcher role is a senior individual contributor position that leads customer research strategy across Payoneer's product ecosystem, spanning SMB merchants to global enterprises.
In this role, you will lead 2-3 concurrent research workstreams within product or customer domains (e.g., onboarding, FX, compliance), defining and driving the research agenda for a product line or region while aligning insights with company goals and customer metrics. You'll design and execute mixed-methods research including usability testing, generative discovery, segmentation, conjoint analysis, and surveys—maintaining methodological rigor and ethical standards across multi-country, multi-segment data.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Product, Design, Marketing, Data, and R&D teams to integrate research into decision-making, communicating findings through compelling storytelling that influences prioritization and product direction. You'll deliver 2-3 strategic studies annually that shape product, regional, or go-to-market decisions, demonstrating measurable business impact through new market entries, product launches, or pricing strategy informed by your research.
You'll also mentor junior researchers, review research plans, strengthen the team's analytical and storytelling capabilities, and participate in hiring research talent. The role requires deep business acumen, proven influence on KPIs, and the ability to manage conflict while maintaining trusted cross-functional relationships.
Required qualifications: 10+ years as a researcher (ideally fintech or monetization), strong understanding of how research informs product/marketing/R&D decisions in fintech or B2B contexts, proven analytical product research experience, understanding of customer journeys and PLG techniques, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to communicate complex insights to senior stakeholders, and demonstrated influence on business priorities.
