ButterflyMX is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the Core Access platform, which powers property access, operations, and security for 20,000+ multifamily, commercial, and student-housing properties worldwide. You will own the complete product roadmap for the core access platform, from strategy through execution, with responsibility for the experience that property managers and channel partners rely on daily.
Key responsibilities include: defining and evolving the product roadmap by evaluating scope, stress-testing assumptions, and iterating based on user feedback; conducting rigorous discovery with end users and operators to sharpen problem definition and collaborate with Design and Engineering on solutions; embedding AI into the product where it creates genuine value for better experiences and smarter operations; making strategic decisions about build versus partner versus white-label approaches; and establishing metrics that matter while holding yourself accountable to outcomes.
You'll need 7+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of owning products from concept to market and driving tangible business outcomes. The ideal candidate has shipped agentic-first products where software takes action on behalf of users, experience evolving mature products into next-generation versions while managing migrations and backwards compatibility, and deep expertise in platform foundations like permissions, identity, RBAC, and onboarding.
You should have strong product taste and UX sense, excellent cross-functional communication skills, and a builder's mindset—prototyping ideas, using available tools to explore quickly, and closing the loop between specifications and actual implementation. An ownership mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and curiosity about defining the path forward are essential.
Bonus qualifications include experience in physical security, access control, PropTech, or IoT; B2B2C products where buyer and daily user differ; or hardware-software systems integration. The role is fully remote within the US, and ButterflyMX is a distributed, primarily remote workforce committed to excellence, innovation, and collaborative culture.
