Shippo is the shipping layer of the internet, building the backbone of global e-commerce by connecting merchants to carriers worldwide through a single API and intuitive dashboard. The company is seeking a Principal Product Manager to own the end-to-end API platform, including developer experience and onboarding, Model Context Protocol (MCP), SDKs, developer documentation, label service, and API design standards across the organization.
In this role, you will set the strategic direction for how the API platform evolves in response to changing customer needs, agentic commerce, and emerging integration patterns. You'll be the primary voice for the developer audience, ensuring that documentation, SDKs, MCP support, and the core label API meet their needs and make Shippo the preferred choice over stitching together individual carrier APIs.
Key responsibilities include owning the API platform roadmap (label creation, MCP, SDKs, developer docs), defining MCP as a product and its evolution, and partnering closely with engineering leadership to set architecture and design standards. You will work across product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to maintain platform competitiveness and developer satisfaction.
