Laurel is an AI Time platform for professional services firms that automates work time capture and connects time data to business outcomes. The company serves major accounting and law firms including EY, Aprio, Crowell & Moring, and Frost Brown Todd, processing over 1 billion work activities annually.
As Principal Growth Marketing Engineer, you will report to the VP of Growth Marketing & Operations and serve as the operational and technical engine behind the company's marketing data infrastructure, paid programs, and AI-powered campaign tooling. This is a hands-on technical role where you build systems that make campaigns measurable, create automations that accelerate the team, and develop agents that optimize spend.
Key responsibilities include:
**Web Infrastructure & Optimization:** Own the website's technical foundation including Core Web Vitals, speed, accessibility, crawlability, and redirects. Run technical SEO audits, resolve crawl and indexation issues, and build templates and tracking components that enable the team to ship without developer involvement. Own the analytics stack (GA4, GTM, Search Console) and drive organic strategy for the ideal customer profile through keyword research, on-page optimization, and content strategy. Lead AI Engine Optimization (AEO) to ensure Laurel surfaces in LLM results.
**HubSpot Operations:** Own the HubSpot instance including workflows, lifecycle stages, lead scoring, list management, and campaign tracking infrastructure. Build and maintain contact database hygiene, segmentation logic, and attribution across all touchpoints. Configure UTM structures, form tracking, and pipeline reporting to tie every campaign back to revenue.
**Paid LinkedIn:** Execute and optimize paid LinkedIn campaigns including audience targeting, budget pacing, creative trafficking, and A/B testing. Build reporting frameworks that connect LinkedIn spend to pipeline contribution and identify performance patterns to drive optimization.
**Google Ads AI Agent & Marketing Automation:** Build and maintain an AI agent that manages Google Ads operations including keyword management, bid strategy, budget allocation, and anomaly detection. Orchestrate the agent across campaign types using performance signals to drive autonomous optimization. Define logic, guardrails, and escalation rules for reliable operation. Collaborate with the AI Engineering team to identify and implement AI-powered marketing workflows beyond Google Ads.
**Reporting & Analytics:** Build and maintain dashboards across HubSpot, LinkedIn, and Google Ads providing a unified view of pipeline contribution by channel. Own attribution modeling for paid channels and surface actionable insights that drive budget allocation and growth strategy.
**Requirements:**
- 10+ years in web development, marketing operations, growth marketing, or technical digital marketing role in B2B
- Deep marketing automation experience with HubSpot: workflows, lead scoring, lifecycle management, attribution, and reporting
- Hands-on experience with paid B2B channels (LinkedIn, Google): targeting, pacing, creative testing, and performance analysis
- Hands-on web development: shipping production code, owning deploys, and optimizing performance
- Experience building or working with AI agents or automation frameworks; comfortable with APIs, prompt engineering, or orchestration tools
- Demonstrated SEO/AEO ownership with technical audits, information architecture, content strategy, and quantifiable organic growth
- Strong data instincts: building clean tracking, trusting attribution, and making decisions from data
**Nice to Have:**
- Experience marketing to professional services, legal, or financial enterprise buyers
- SQL or Python fluency for self-serve data work
- Experience with Google Ads Scripts, Performance Max, or campaign automation tools
- Prior work with LLM-based agents or workflow orchestration platforms (n8n, Make, Zapier, LangChain)
