Sakana AI, a Tokyo-based AI company, is seeking a Technical Editor (Defense and Intelligence) to help connect the company's cutting-edge AI technology with Japan's defense and intelligence ecosystem, including government agencies and related enterprises.
In this role, you will collaborate with executive leadership, project managers, engineers, and researchers to develop and execute documentation strategies that translate Sakana AI's advanced technical capabilities into compelling materials for government budget requests and policy development. You will leverage deep knowledge of government budget cycles and policy-making processes to synthesize internal expertise and produce high-quality proposal documents, business overview materials (pitch decks), and technical specifications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with leadership, project managers, engineers, and researchers to connect Sakana AI's advanced technology to government budget requests and policy initiatives
- Developing documentation strategies informed by government-specific budget cycles and decision-making processes
- Writing and editing persuasive, high-quality proposal materials, business overview documents, and technical explanations that aggregate internal expertise
This position is based in Tokyo and requires business-level Japanese proficiency (N1 level) as a minimum; business-level English is a plus. The role involves potential exposure to classified or defense-sensitive information, and applicants must be prepared to undergo background checks as required by law.

Requirements (Must-have):
- 3+ years of professional experience in at least one of the following:
- Creating documentation for government budget requests or policy development at a government agency
- Authoring proposals for government-funded research and development projects at a private company that were successfully adopted
- Passion for generative AI models such as LLMs and AI agents
- Bachelor's degree
- Business-level Japanese proficiency (N1 level)
Nice-to-have:
- Experience executing government budgets at a government agency or private company
