Shield AI is seeking a Principal Engineer, Electrical to own flight-critical avionics designs for the V-BAT autonomous aircraft platform. This is a full-cycle hardware development role spanning concept through manufacturing deployment, with responsibility for complex system architectures including power management, analog/digital circuits, servos, microcontrollers, sensors, and radios.
You will lead circuit and sub-system design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical feedback across the power team and cross-functionally. Key responsibilities include hardening designs for harsh environments (shock/vibration, high reliability, radiation, high-altitude), driving PCB layout optimization for power density/EMI/thermal performance, and ensuring manufacturability and reliability best practices.
You'll own the complete design flow: worst-case analysis, schematic capture, simulation, prototyping, design iteration, testing, and validation. This includes leading design reviews, managing project timelines and technical milestones, and collaborating with mechanical, embedded, software, supply chain, test automation, and production teams throughout the product lifecycle. You'll also help define technical product requirements and features for next-generation systems.
