Salary: USD 191,300 - 291,500 / annual
Thumbtack is seeking a Principal Business Finance Manager to serve as a strategic finance partner to the Chief Commercial Officer. This role focuses on financial planning, analysis, and decision support for the company's sales, go-to-market, and revenue-generating initiatives.
You will conduct comprehensive financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting for sales and partnership activities. You'll develop sophisticated financial models that guide strategic decision-making on key P&L drivers, helping leadership understand where incremental investments will have the greatest impact. Working closely with Sales, Product, Revenue Operations, Business Operations, and Growth Operations teams, you'll assess how sales incentives, promotions, and pricing changes affect revenue and profitability.
Key responsibilities include overseeing monthly and quarterly forecasting, reporting, and spend management with recommendations to optimize performance against budget. You'll analyze financial results, synthesize insights, and communicate findings clearly to internal stakeholders. You'll also support business planning efforts and help develop team targets and OKRs.
Thumbtack operates a marketplace connecting homeowners with local service professionals. The company serves millions of users across the U.S., helping them manage home repairs, maintenance, and improvements. The Finance team's mission is to be a strategic partner enabling data-driven decisions and responsible growth.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of FP&A experience, strong financial modeling and analytical skills in Excel and G-Suite, and excellent communication abilities. Preferred experience includes work in public companies and/or marketplace environments, plus familiarity with Business Development and Sales teams. The ideal candidate proactively embraces AI tools to scale processes and deliver actionable insights.
